PLACEMENT
Twenty-four is the maximum number of children which will be taken in any one class although siblings may be admitted to increase this to twenty seven as an exception.
Placement in all classes will be made on the basis of the child’s age, previous record and the assessment by the school. The initial placement is tentative, and the school may advise a change of class after child’s performance has been thoroughly observed. Generally, however, children are placed according to birth year. Children would be expected to progress at the end of each year to the next year group class.
Tots 18 months - 3 yrs. (Tots is not part of formal schooling)

Age your child must be by December 31st on entry
Nursery - 3 yrs Reception - 4yrs.
Year 1 - 5 yrs. Year 2 - 6 yrs. Year 3 - 7 yrs.
Year 4 - 8 yrs. Year 5 - 9 yrs. Year 6 - 10 yrs.

If you decide you would like to apply, please follow these procedures.
Complete the Application Form and send together with the student’s birth certificate, latest school report and application fee. Fees should be made payable to 'Hong Lok Yuen International School Association Ltd.
You will be contacted to inform you whether
- an interview has been arranged or
- a place can be offered without interview or
- there are no places available at present
An assessment interview will be held for all children currently living in Hong Kong. For children from overseas, assessment will usually be based on recent school reports and parents' information. For children with special needs, specialist reports are required.
If an interview is conducted, you will be advised afterwards as to whether we will be able to accept your child.
When your child has been offered a place, we will send a confirmation letter of acceptance.
The Registration and Reservation charge should be paid within 10 days to reserve the place.
After your child has been accepted you will be asked to complete the Association Form, Emergency Form and Language Profile.
